Four Reasons Not to Give Up   포기하지 않아야 할 4가지 이유

“We don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen.”

2 Corinthians 4:18 (NLT)

"우리는 지금 우리가 볼 수 있는 어려움을 보지 않습니다. 오히려 우리가 볼 수 없는 것들에 우리들의 시선을 고정합니다."

 

If your focus is shortsighted—where you’re only thinking about your current difficulties or pain—then it’s only natural to want to give up.

만약에 당신의 고정된 시선이 근시안적이라면요-당신은 현재 처한 어려움들이나 고통에 대해만 생각하겠죠-그리고 포기하고 싶은  것은 자연스러운 것입니다.

 

But if you look at things from an eternal perspective, then you’ll be able to keep going, no matter what happens.

그러나 만약에요, 당신이 영원에 근거한 관점으로 모든것을 바라본다면요, 그러면 당신은 계속 앞으로 나아갈 수 있어요. 무슨 일이 생겨나도 말이에요.

 

“That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen” (2 Corinthians 4:16-18 NLT).

"우리는 결코 포기하지 않습니다. 우리의 육신은 죽어가고 있지만 우리의 영은 날로 새로워지고 있습니다. 우리가 현재 겪고 있는 문제는 사소하고 오래가지 않을 것이기 때문입니다. 우리를 위해 훨씬 더 크고 영원히 지속될 영광을 만들어냅니다! 그래서 우리는 지금 우리가 볼 수 있는 문제들을 보지 않습니다. 오히려 우리는 보이지 않는 것에 시선을 고정시킵니다”(고린도후서 4:16-18 NLT)."

 

This passage gives us four reasons to stay strong emotionally and never give up:

이 구절은 우리에게 감정적으로 강인함을 유지하고 절대 포기하지 말아야 할 네 가지 이유를 제시합니다 :

 

We never give up, because “our spirits are being renewed every day.” We wouldn’t dream of going a whole week without food, but some people don’t even open their Bibles for an entire week. That’s depriving our soul of the most essential nourishment it needs! If you want to renew your spirit every day, then get into God’s Word.

우리는 결코 포기하지 않습니다. “우리의 영은 날마다 새로워지기” 때문입니다. 우리는 일주일 내내 음식 없이 지낼 수는 없지만 어떤 사람들은 일주일 동안 성경을 펴보지도 않습니다. 그것은 우리의 영혼에 필요한 가장 필수적인 영양분을 빼앗는 것입니다! 매일 영을 새롭게 하고 싶다면 하나님의 말씀 안으로 들어가세요.

 

We never give up, because “our present troubles are small and won’t last very long.” Problems don’t come to stay; they come to pass. Even if we have problems that last our entire lives, they would be miniscule compared to the trillions of years we’re going to have in heaven. We know that problems on earth are temporary and that God has long-range plans for us.

우리는 결코 포기하지 않습니다. 왜냐하면 “현재 우리가 겪고 있는 문제는 사소하고 오래가지 않을 것”이기 때문입니다. 문제는 계속 머물러있지 않을 거예요.  즉, 그것들은 지나가게 됩니다. 심지어 우리가  우리가 평생 동안 지속되는 문제가 있다 하더라도, 우리가 천국에서 겪게 될 수조 년에 비하면 그 문제는 아주아주 하찮은 것입니다. 우리는 이 땅의 문제들이 일시적이라는 것과 하나님께서 우리를 위한 장기적인 계획을 갖고 계시다는 것을 알고 있죠.

 

We never give up, because we know our problems will “produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!” God is using everything in our lives—even the hard stuff—to build our character for eternity. Romans 8:28 says, “We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (NIV).

우리는 결코 포기하지 않습니다. 우리가 겪는 문제가 “우리에게 그보다 훨씬 더 크고 영원히 지속될 영광을 가져다줄” 것임을 알기 때문입니다. 하나님은 우리 삶의 모든 것, 심지어 어려운 일조차도 사용하여 영원을 위한 우리의 성품을 키우고 계십니다. 로마서 8장 28절은 “우리가 알거니와 하나님을 사랑하는 자 곧 그 뜻대로 부르심을 입은 자들에게는 모든 일이 합력하여 선을 이루느니라”(NIV)고 말합니다.

 

We never give up, because we “fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen.” When we’re focused on things that last forever, we’re able to finish the race because we have long-term thinking. Our attention is fixed on eternity. 

우리는 “보이지 않는 것에 시선을 고정”시키기 때문에 결코 포기하지 않습니다. 영원히 지속되는 것에 집중할 때 우리는 장기적인 사고를 갖고 있기 때문에 인생의 경주를 마칠 수 있습니다. 우리의 관심은 영원에 고정되어 있습니다.

 

So, what are you focused on today? Instead of looking at your problems, start looking at Jesus again. And don’t give up!

그럼 오늘은 어떤 부분에 중점을 두셨나요? 당신의 문제를 바라보는 대신, 다시 예수님을 바라보십시오. 그리고 포기하지 마세요! 

#MY STATEMENT#

I know why I was born in this world. that is to please God and live according to His will. I realized that this had something to do with my maturity in all aspects. To live as a Christian in life can be painful, and difficult, and sometimes makes me want to give up. but I felt that I had matured as I went through all the situations. I felt that Christian maturity grows more when I take action and do not give up, not just pray. Whatever comes, I move forward in prayer before God. I don't give up. I will finish the race I run on this earth. I decided to become a better son of God in every way than I was yesterday. So I don't give up. Because God is watching me and cheering me on.

저는 이 세상에 태어난 이유가 있음을 압니다. 하나님을 기쁘게 하고 그분의 뜻을 좇아 살아가는 것입니다. 여기에 저의 모든 면에서의 성숙과 관련이 있다는 것을 깨달았어요.  삶에서 그리스도인으로 살아간다는 것은 괴로운 것도 곤란한 경우도 포기하고 싶은 경우도 있습니다. 모든 상황을 겪어내면서 성숙됨을 느꼈습니다. 그리스도인의 성숙은 기도만 하는 것이 아니라 행동할 때, 포기하지 않을 때 더 성장함을 느꼈습니다.   어떤 주제가 되었던 지 하나님 앞에서 기도하면서 나아갑니다. 포기하지 않습니다. 내가 이 지구에서 달려갈 경주를 마칠겁니다. 저는 모든 면에서 어제보다 나은 하나님의 자녀가 되기로 결심했었습니다. 그래서 포기하지않습니다. 하나님이 저를 보면서  응원하고 계시니까요.
