What It Means to Have Holy Spirit Power

None of us are immune to persistent sins. Some people struggle with anger, while others wrestle with worry or gossip or lust.

우리 중 누구도 지속적인 죄로부터 면역성을 가지고 있지않아요. 어떤 사람들은 분노로 어려움을 겪고 있는 반면, 또 다른 이들은 걱정, 험담, 색욕으로 인해 어려움을 겪고 있죠.

 

How do you break free from persistent sin?

어떻게 끈질긴 죄에서 어떻게 벗어날 수 있을까요?

 

You understand what Jesus has done for you. On the cross, Jesus paid for the penalty of your sins so you don’t have to pay for it. All of your sins—even the ones you haven’t committed yet—have been paid for on the cross.

당신은 예수님이 당신을 위해 하신 일을 이해하죠.  십자가에서 예수님은 당신의 죗값을 지불하셨으므로 당신은 그 값을 지불할 필요가 없어요.  당신의 모든 죄는- 심지어 당신이 아직 짓지 않은 죄까지도- 십자가에서 다 지불되었습니다.

 

Jesus not only paid for your sin, but he also paid to break the power of sin in your life. Now you have a power you didn’t have before—the power to say no to sin. It’s more than willpower. It’s Holy Spirit power!

예수님은 당신의 죗값을 지불하셨을 뿐만 아니라, 당신의 삶에서 죄의 힘을 깨뜨리기 위한 그 값도 지불하셨습니다. 이제 당신은 이전에는 갖지 못했던 능력- 즉, 죄를 거부할 수 있는 능력을 갖게 되었습니다. 그것은 의지력 그 이상입니다. 성령의 능력입니다!

 

The Bible says in Romans 8:2, “The power of the life-giving Spirit—and this power is mine through Christ Jesus—has freed me from the vicious circle of sin and death” (TLB).

성경은 로마서 8장 2절에서 이렇게 말합니다. “생명 주시는 성령의 능력이 그리스도 예수로 말미암아 내게 있은즉 나를 죄와 사망의 악순환에서 해방하셨으니”(TLB).

 

If you’re a Christian, you know Jesus died to pay for your sin. That’s the Good News

당신이 그리스도인이라면 예수님이 당신의 죗값을 치르기 위해 죽으셨다는 것을 알고 있을 것입니다. 그것이 바로 복음(좋은 소식)이지요.

 

And if that was all there was, that would still be the best news in the world.

그리고 그것이 전부였다면 그것은 여전히 세상에서 가장 최고의 소식일 것입니다.

 

But when he died on the cross, Jesus also took our old sin nature and gave us a new nature, one that no longer has to live in persistent sin.

그러나 예수님은 십자가에 죽으실 때 우리의 옛 죄성을 가져가시고 더 이상 지속적인 죄 가운데 살 필요가 없는 새 성품을 우리에게 주셨습니다.

 

The Bible teaches, “We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin” (Romans 6:6 NLT).

성경은 이렇게 가르칩니다. “우리의 옛 죄된 자아가 그리스도와 함께 십자가에 못 박힌 것은 죄가 우리 삶에서 세력을 잃게 하려 함이다. 우리는 더 이상 죄의 종이 아니다.”(로마서 6:6 NLT)

 

Sin no longer has any power in your life. A dead person can’t be tempted! That old nature can’t be tempted, and since it died with Christ, 

죄는 더 이상 당신의 삶에 어떤 힘도 갖지 못합니다. 죽은 사람은 유혹을 받을 수 없습니다! 옛 본성이 그리스도와 함께 죽었기에 그 옛 본성은 유혹을 받을 수 없어요.

 

you can be confident that you also share in his new life.

당신도 그의 새로운 삶에 동참한다는  확신을 가질 수 있어요.

 

Willpower will never be enough to break the power of sin in your life.

의지력만으로는 결코 당신의 삶에서 죄의 힘을 깨뜨릴 수 없습니다.

 

But thanks to Jesus, you have more than enough power in the Holy Spirit to resist temptation and break the vicious circle of sin and death.

그러나 예수님 덕분에 당신은 유혹에 저항하고 죄와 죽음의 악순환을 끊을 수 있는 성령의 능력을 충분히 가지게 된 것입니다.

예수는 당신의 죄에 대한 값을 지불하신 것뿐만 아니라, 그는 역시 당신의 삶에서 죄의 힘을 부셔버릴 수있도록 값을 지불하셨다.
